WHEN night comes and she closes her eyes, all she can think of is Palesa Madiba.
“I can’t sleep at night. I’m losing my mind,” said Tsidi Mkwanazi.
She was a friend of Palesa Madiba, whose body was found on 16 December last year – buried in Tsidi’s yard!
Palesa disappeared mysteriously in August 2013 and her bones were discovered at the house in Phiri, Soweto following an anonymous tip-off to the police.
“Palesa’s death is haunting me,” Tsidi told Daily Sun. She said her life is hell.
“People want to burn our house. They are talking. They say we are responsible for her death. But the truth will set us free.”
She said she doesn’t know what happened to her friend but she’s sure the person who called the cops about the body knew what happened.
“I only wish that person could be caught so that he or she could explain and we could all find peace.”
When asked if she and her gogo were afraid to live in the house after the discovery of the bones, Tsidi said they were not.
“There’s nothing to fear. Whoever put the body there is the one who should fear something,” said Tsidi.
Palesa’s funeral service will be held on Saturday at the University of Joburg’s Soweto campus. Her family will hold a private burial service afterwards.
