Pastor locks employee in Spaza

ON FRIDAY afternoon, Boy Kama was shocked when cops raided his shack for illegal booze. The 62-year-old, who lives in the yard of his four-roomed house so he can rent it out as a spaza shop, told our reporters cops wanted to raid the main house. This after they found nothing in his shack. But Pastor Trades Nuri (41), who rents the house, was not home and the cops were surprised to find he had locked his employee, Lucas Justin (21), inside the shop in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage. As the police surrounded the house, Boy told them: “The pastor has left with the key and I don’t know where he is.” Lucas started crying when about 15 cops ordered him to open the spaza, saying: “My boss has left with the key and I can’t open!” When the pastor finally arrived, he told Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Goeda: “Why do you come here unannounced?” The public order commander replied: “I have the right to come at any time I want if I’m suspicious of drugs in there!” When Goeda asked the pastor what he would have done if a fire had broken out with Lucas inside, he said: “Where would a fire come from? I don’t give the key to anyone. Tsotsis would rob me if I left the key. “Three months ago, I dreamt a former employee was having sex in the shop. The following day I came and he was sleeping with a girl whom he gave my chicken pieces as a pay for sex!” The incident ended calmly. Police spokesman, Sergeant Majola Nkohi said police were out on their weekly operation in the area during which they raided 28 illegal outlets
