Now Senzo Meyiwa's dad has every reason to smile

The story about Senzo Meyiwa's grave with no tombstone has touched the heart of a Joburg businessman and sport lover. Now Senzo Meyiwa's father has every reason to smile after he revealed that the family is so broke that they even sleep on hungry stomachs, let alone afford erecting a tombstone on Senzo's grave.
Rob Drake (62) from Diepsloot, Gauteng has offered to erect a tombstone on Senzo's grave in Durban's Heroes' Acre in Chesterville, KZN.
"I loved watching the young talent of Senzo being nurtured to the level of national captain that he became. It hurts me to see a soccer hero who was loved by millions around the country with a grave that's just a heap of sand in the sun," said Rob, owner of Afri-Tombstones in Diepsloot, north of Joburg.
He added he wanted to help the Meyiwa family because he found that the stories in the media around Senzo's death disturbing. Seeing Senzo's father, Sam Meyiwa, in the paper also hurt him.
"I want to offer the family the stone of their choice and I will take my crew to erect it," he said.
The tombstone and the labour will cost Rob and his business about R50,000.
"I have no interest in who killed Senzo or the police's investigation into the case. I want to let Sam and his family know there are people who care and love them in their time of trouble," said Rob.
Senzo's brother, Sifiso Meyiwa, said the family was happy to hear the news but he asked the news crew to contact his dad.
Sam said he was excited about the offer and asked the People's Paper to give his phone number to Rob.
"I don't often go to Joburg. I would be happy if Rob could come down to Durban to discuss the matter. I would also like to do the ukubuyisa ceremony for Senzo," said Sam.
