Innocent Soweto man shot 4 times by police officers

SIMPHIWE Zikalala is lying in hospital with a wounded arm after cops allegedly shot him four times on Saturday!
According to his family, the only crime the 40-year-old from Dlamini extension 2 in Soweto was guilty of was running into cops while they were chasing hijackers.
His sister, Busisiwe Kunene (29), said she was with him a few hours before he was shot.
“After we had some drinks, he went to chill with his friends near our house and I went to bed,” she said.
“But before I got to sleep, I heard gunshots and one of Simphiwe’s friends phoned telling me he had been shot.
“I rushed to the scene with the rest of the family, where we were told that Simphiwe had been shot and kicked by the cops.
“We stopped a passing ambulance and he was taken to hospital. We were shocked when we went to visit him the following day and found his leg cuffed to the bed. He was under police guard.
“The cops told us Simphiwe would be charged with hijacking and murder!”
Apparently on the day he was shot, the police had been chasing armed robbers who had hijacked and shot a man in Hyde Park. They had abandoned the car in Dlamini before fleeing on foot.
Busisiwe said on Wednesday she was told the charges against her brother had been withdrawn.
Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza said a team had been appointed to investigate the incident. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate was also investigating, Kweza said
