But Kapumba will be remembered for playing seductive Nigerian businesswoman Shola Babalola on SABC2's Muvhango last year and also on e.tv'sRhythm City.
"I will be entering Skeem Saam by going straight to jail where I will share a prison cell with Lelo," said Kapumba, who didn't give away much on her character as her entry has been kept a surprise for the unsuspecting viewers.
"My character is of a well educated Ndebele-speaking Zimbabwean from Bulawayo whose one parent is Shona and moved to South Africa for a better life.
"But on her arrival in Joburg - without relatives or friends, she becomes vulnerable and nervy.
"Life is not easy as she struggles to get a job despite having the right papers to stay and work in SA."
Sunday World sources say her character then falls in love with a drug dealer who sends her on a mission with a narcotic consignment and she gets busted, landing in jail.
"It's a brilliant and brave storyline that reflects the life of duped drug mules and the hardships they face because of their lovers' drug dealing," said the source.
Kapumba was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia, and moved to SA with her father in 1993. She attended Bishop Bavin junior high school and Sedaven high school, east of Joburg.
She started acting at a young age in Lusaka when she featured in a television commercial. She took a back seat until 2014 when she met Kenyan Oscar Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o who inspired her to follow her passion and make her acting dreams a reality.
