Sundowns midfielder conned out of R425000 by Pretoria woman

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Hlompho Kekana was dribbled out of nearly half a million rands by a Pretoria woman.
This was after the playmaker bought a nonexistent McDonald's franchise.
The footie, known for his powerful shots on the soccer field, told police he had deposited R425000 into the woman's business account hoping to partner with her in a McDonald's franchise deal in Pretoria in 2012.
But the deal did not materialise because the woman allegedly fled with the funds.
Kekana's attempts to pursue the status of the franchise deal, largely funded by him, were ignored for almost two years .
The Masandawana midfielder eventually got fed up and opened a case of theft against the woman at Sinoville Police Station after realising he had been conned .
According to a police statement deposed by Kekana, he deposited money into the woman's business account after she told him about the business opportunity in October 2012.
"The complainant, Mr Kekana, paid money into the account of ... The total amount the complainant paid amounts to R425000," read the police statement.
"Every time the complainant contacted the suspect, she told him how she would pay back the money, but she never did. Last contact with ... she did not want to speak to the complainant."
Sinoville police spokesman Johan van Dyk confirmed Kekana's case of theft.
"The docket was handed over to the specialised fraud unit at the commercial branch of the police for investigation," said Van Dyk.
Kekana refused to comment on the case.
He hung up and did not respond to questions sent to him via SMS.
