WHEN the sangoma asked for more money because he said the man’s spiritual highway was jammed, the man put his foot down.
He decided the bogus sangoma had picked on the wrong guy and that he wouldn’t continue being his money machine.
The 34-year-old from Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape, who is too embarrassed to be named, told Daily Sun: “He got my money but I got him arrested!”
The man was standing outside the door of the sangoma’s flat, holding a bag of muthi in his hand when the SunTeam caught up with him.
He said he would keep the muthi until the healer paid him back. His problems started two months ago when he broke up with his wife.
“Two weeks ago, I saw an advert in a newspaper for a sangoma who could bring back my lost lover. He asked for R750 for a consultation,” said the angry man.
“However, he soon wanted another R4 500, saying there was a traffic jam in the spiritual world he needed to clear. I was suspicious but I paid because I was desperate.”
When nothing had changed in his life a week later, the man called the sangoma but all he got was excuses.
“On Sunday, I decided to set a trap.
“I got my friend to call him and pretend he had the same problem as me,” he said.
The sangoma told them to wait at his indumba but they left after waiting for three hours.
However, they had phoned the cops and the sangoma was later bust. Police spokesman Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu said: “Cases of theft and operating under false pretences were opened and the suspect will appear in court soon.
