ISINDINGO star spreads her wings

ISIDINGO’s Kgomotso Christopher is looking forward to a great year.
Kgomotso told SunBuzz that she believes this is a defining year for her career.
She said she plans to make major career strides.
“It’s good to be working with the Isidingo team especially as far as my character, Katlego, is concerned.
“She has gone from being a villain to being a diva, and now she is embracing her feminine and womanly side, as she’s pregnant,” Kgomotso said.
The actress said she is happy that her character now tackles real life issues such as surrogacy and violence.
“At first, Katlego’s character had no direction but now she’s part of the main storyline.
“It’s exciting for me as an actress to be contributing to tackling some of the social issues we face as a country.”
Kgomotso said this year will see her addressing other issues, such as motherhood, and balancing them with being a wife.
Last year, she was one of the Naledi Awards judges.
“This saw me travelling all over the country to scout for talent and grooming people to become fully fledged theatre performers.
“As an educator I’m passionate about the arts and development,” she added.
She is a former lecturer in the drama department at Wits University.
Kgomotso is also part of Assitej South Africa, which operates as a networking platform for people working with or interested in theatre for children and young people.
It aims to promote and foster high quality theatre for kids and young people and raise standards in the industry.
It increases access and awareness, acts as an advocate for the right of every child to arts education in schools, and helps to build relationships locally and internationally
