Meet ZULUBOY's replacement on Fan base

SOUTH African Film & Television Awards-winning actor and presenter, Akhumzi Jezile, will replace Zuluboy on SABC1’s Fan Base.
Sunday Sun has learnt the presenter, actor and producer has been shooting episodes of the show for the couple of weeks. Rapper and actor “Zuluboy”, real name Mxolisi Majozi, who plays Big Boy on e.tv’s Gold Diggers, said in September he would be taking a break from TV so he can finish recording his album, The Zulu Tapes, in Europe and Dubai.
Sunday Sun has learnt Akhumzi will take over the show and is set to bring a whole new audience and energy to the popular variety music show.
Zandile Nkonyeni, Head of PR: SABC TV Channels, confirmed Akhumzi is the new face of the fun-filled show. She told the People’s Paper: “We’re extremely excited Akhumzi will be joining Fan Base as the new host. “As you may know, Akhumzi has grown considerably well with brand SABC1 – from the little boy who started on YO!TV as presenter, growing up to produce the show, to landing lead roles in one of our big dramas, Tempy Pushas.
“His talent remains unquestionable.” Zandile added: “And it’s for this reason we felt he’s a natural fit for Fan Base. “As part of our commitment to ensuring diversity across the schedule, our viewers can look forward to a thoroughly entertaining new season with one charismatic and talented host in Akhumzi.”
Akhumzi has been part of the SABC1 family for years, producing, directing and presenting for various YO!TV shows since 2007. In 2013, he landed the starring role as Ngulube in the SABC1 drama series Tempy Pushas. Akhumzi told Sunday Sun: “It feels good to be back in the world of presenting. “I’m so excited and happy as it is a new challenge.”
