SHAMELESS thugs hit the same place twice in a day!
Naledi Mall in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni seemed to be such an attractive target that robbers couldn’t stay away on Wednesday.
Police Captain ­Piet Rossouw said it seemed as if the crimes were well planned. “These thugs planned well when they chose a single place to do two crimes,” he said.
At about 6pm, three thugs stormed into Meat Express and held staff and customers at gunpoint.
According to Rossouw, two of the thugs opened the cash register and took money from it. About R5 000 was also taken from customers.
On the very same evening at the same mall, three thugs hit the Absa ATM. They apparently overpowered three guards and tied them up before taking their cellphones. They then cut open the ATM and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
“A cutting torch, angle grinder and a two-hand grinder were used to open the ATM’s back door. This shows these people came here well prepared,” said Rossouw.
He added that no one was injured in either incidents.
“A case of armed business robbery was opened for the incident at Meat Express, while cases of business burglary and theft were opened for the incident at the ATM,” he said.
