MOTHER gives baby to STRANGERS on bus stop

MOUNT Ayliff police are looking for two mothers who abandoned infants.
A week-old baby boy was left by his mother at a bus stop in Lugelweni Village on Monday morning.
Police spokesman Captain Mlungisi Matidane said: “The boy’s mum came from the direction of Mount Frere and returned there after abandoning the infant.
“The woman who was holding the baby called two girls and asked them to take the child to a nearby house.
“She said the aunt of the baby was waiting for him to be dropped there.
“The girls did as they were told and left with the baby.
“The mother of the young boy, who said she would be waiting for the girls to come back to the bus stop, allegedly fled by catching a taxi back to Mount Frere.
“The woman in the nearby house was surprised, saying she was not the baby’s aunt.
“She told the girls to take the baby back again.
“The confused girls took the infant to their own home.
“Their older sister took them and the baby to Mount Ayliff Police Station, where a case of child neglect was opened.”
Matidane said the baby was taken to social development to be kept in a safe place.
“Child neglect is becoming more common in Mount Ayliff.
“About two weeks ago a three-month-old baby girl was found on the street between Tabankulu Home Affairs and the clinic.
“She has not been identified yet and is at a place of safety.”
Matidane urged residents of Alfred Nzo district to assist in the identification of the two abandoned babies
