Missing veteran lawyer found dead, shot to death near King Shaka Airport

A Verulam attorney who did not return home after work on Monday afternoon was found dead in a sugar cane field near King Shaka International airport in the early hours of Tuesday.
Arvin Rhugbeer, 35, the owner of Rhugbeer and Associates Attorneys, was reported missing by his family and a search was initiated on Monday night.
Police spokesman Thulani Zwane said police found Rhugbeer’s body inside his white, two-door Kia car in a field at Canelands at about 3.30am.
"He had a gunshot wound and he had a firearm in his hand. Verulam police are investigating," he said.
Rhugbeer’s cousin said all questions had to be directed to the police.
Before opening his own practice, Rhugbeer had been a partner at Kandhai, Rhugbeer & Associates.
His friend and former partner, Ashlyn Kandhai, said when he heard the news about his long-time friend, he was shocked.
He last talked to him only a day before his death
